Ozone removal filter series Part 1. - Air purifier application

<Air purifier application>

Due to the spread of Covid-19, there has been an increasing demand for air purifiers in various settings. Hospitals, as well as homeowners alike, are trying to eliminate the risks of airborne pollutants.

There are currently two main types of air purifiers used for these purposes with potential alternatives being developed.

One of the main types is the plasma air purifier, which uses high voltage to sterilize the air. In the process, the contact between UV and oxygen generates ozone which without proper control may be released into the ambient air.

The other type of air purifier uses ozone itself to eradicate any airborne pollutants.

In either case, an ozone removal filter is necessary. Its principal function is to control the ozone concentration so that no inappropriate levels harmful to people are released from the system.

NICHIAS has been manufacturing and providing to the industry, filters with an ozone decomposing catalyst capable of providing the required level of control.

There are also other applications of concern. In part 2, we will look at how and why ozone removal filters are important in the surface treatment application.
